3 Month Internship at Genting SkyWorlds
June 2024 - September 2024

My internship at Genting SkyWorlds was an eye-opening journey into the world of theme park engineering and operations. Over the course of the internship, I had the chance to work behind the scenes on some of the park's most iconic rides and attractions, supporting both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks. From early mornings spent checking safety systems to late evenings troubleshooting ride components, each day brought new challenges that pushed me to learn quickly and adapt. Beyond the technical skills, I gained a deeper appreciation for the teamwork, precision, and dedication required to keep a world-class theme park running safely and smoothly.
Ensured all torque marks on bolts are clearly visible and met safety standards. Torque markings are critical in a theme park ride because they serve as a safety verification tool for mecahnical fasteners (like bolts and nuts) that hold together high-stress ride components. It is especially more important at Genting SkyWorlds due to the harsh weather.

Performed non-destructive testing (NDT) on a roller coaster braking assembly to verify structural integrity and operational safety. NDT is carried out to detect fractures or cracks, particularly at weld joints, without causing any damage to the component.
Maintained daily, weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly checklists in compliance with safety guidelines and industry standards, including TUV and Disney.

Compiled comprehensive spare parts lists by referencing ride engineering drawings and manuals, streamlining the process for efficient spare parts ordering and future maintenance planning.
Delivered a presentation on my internship experience at Genting SkyWorlds, highlighting the technical skills gained, hands-on maintenance experience, and key professional learnings acquired throughout the internship.
